Default Key stuck in ignition

I have a 97 Chevy c3500 and the key is stuck in the ignition it still starts the truck and goes to the off position the key just will not come out. The first thing I thought to try was replacing the lock cylinder but when I installed that still does the exact same thing. I’ve never even replaced a lock cylinder before this so I hav no clue where to go from here in diagnosing the problem. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated?

Is it in neutral or park because it will not release the key until that happens It's also possible it could be a blown fuse, so double check your fuse box in the cab and the engine bay.

Just seeing this one, but I have a similar issue with my 1996 C1500, and when the key gets stuck, it seems related to the steering wheel lock. If I shift the steering wheel or turn the key to unlock it, the key will then come out.
