1982-1983 Chevy S-10; V6 2.8 Liter - Cant get running, need help
Im working on a special project and in this car has an S-10 2.8 V6.
Its an 82-83 motor - Carbureted.
I had the carb rebuilt and installed a new Distributor. (see picture) Its a modulated vacuum advanced distributor.
I put the number 1 cylinder at TDC (piston all the way up on passenger side forward cylinder) I have even tried to check the timing while turning over, and the marks though didnt line up well on the TDC mark.
The motor turns over nicely, but i cannot get it to start. It pops/flames and 'wizz bangs' through the carb every now and again. Lots of fuel.
i checked spark at the plug wires by pulling wire and shorting to ground....NOTHING!
I am using a standard 12v coil to the distributor.
I have constant 12v to the distributor pin (brown wire) and 12v from the
coil (pink wire) to the other pin.
What am I doing wrong....this motor is really giving me a hard time.
any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
-Anyone near Yucaipa/San Bernardino area that could help. I would be willing to compensate you for your time to get this motor running. I own a custom shop (Vintage Cars) and would be willing to trade work for some equal value custom work.
