i have my 1994 chevy s10 blazer it has the 4.3 vortec i had a miss fire so i read that your distrebuter can be off sync i am 17 so i wasnt thinking i thought i can tune it with my ears so i did tighted it was at friends drove home then when i got home reved the engine a little bit and then it died right after and now will not start or will not even try to start just cranks could i have jumped a tooth on the timing chain? need help it my daily driver what am i supposed to do

 

what did you tighten? the throttle cable?

 

i made sure i tighted the distrubuter before leaving friends house

 

when you "tightened" the distributor, it must have messed up your ignition timing.
just like you can loosen the distributor too much, you can also tighten it too much.
most distributors on newer engines like yours will adjust themselves. however, if it is out of adjustment you can use a simple timing light.

 

update just did a spark test and i have no spark just replaced the distrubuter cap rotor and coil and still have no spark plug and wire were done like 3 weeks ago and i didnt tighten actally i said i my last reply i actally ment thought it was running fine not tighten idk what else to do and i cant afford to just keep puting parts in and seeing if they will work

if you're not getting spark, this does help with the possible causes, given it's not rotor, distributor cap, or ignition coil:


1. bad crankshaft position sensor
2. corroded wires to the Powertrain Control Module or Ignition Control Module
3. Bad pickup INSIDE the distributor
4. Faulty Ignition switch


I would start by inspecting for corroded wires.
