Default 1996 S10 headlight problem

I have a 1996 Chevy S10 pickup 4.3L V6 96,000 miles and I have been having troubles with my headlights. After about 10 minutesof driving at night my headlights will start clicking on and off to my DTR lights. If I stop and put on the emergency brake, the headlights will work normally. It seems to me that the DRL lights are staying on when the headlights are turned on and overheating something. Perhaps a relay is failing to turn off the DRL lights when the headlights are turned on. Should I replace the DRL relay or is there a problem with the DRL control module?
