2002 Blazer Coolent leak and Fuel Economy
Hey Folks, here the issues.
Background:
2002 Blazer 4.3L Vortec V-6 (Vin "W")
4 Door
119,000+
Fuel Mileage was 320 Highway/City on 14.5 Gallons about 6 months after purchase
Fuel Mileage over the past year, fell to 280 Highway/City on 14.5 Gallons, After major work by dealership to resolve coolant and engine oil issue.
Fuel Mileage at time of post, fell to 220 Highway/City on 14.5 Gallons.
1. I have a fluid leak from the plenum right where it mates to the intake assemble. Area around the thermostat housing. I have notice over the past week that there is fluid leaking from this location. However it is not to bad.
I know that all leak should be fix but money is a major issue right now.
2. Just replaced my Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF) and the Mass Air Pressure Sensor (MAP) on the truck due to age and OBD2 error Codes. Part of the reason to replace the MAF was due to a constant error P0101 and 60 plus mile drop in fuel efficiency. As for the MAP Sensor, it was replaced due to I pulled it out with no problem while testing the electrical circuit, and noticed the sensor appeared to be liquid fowled, as well as a damaged retraining O-
Ring.
Just a side note. I just replaced all for tires for new ones, balanced and at proper pressure, just replaced all the brakes pads and rotors, (4 Wheel Disc) and 4 new shocks at the start of the summer. Replaced the Distributor Cap, Rotor, Wires and Plugs in November 2008. Also, have replaced the Starter Solenoid and Coil Pack in October 2008.
Guess my question is, Would a 1 to 2 ounces of Coolant fluid lose, from the area mention, now lead my truck to a major fuel efficiency lost? And if not then what have I missed? (No codes in the Computer.) Any Suggestions?
Getting a ELM327 Scanner this week, to hopefully narrow this down.
