2nd Gen 4.3 swap into 1st Gen S-10 Blazer
Need some help guys. Have searched the net and here and can't seem to find info pertaining to my situation.
I have a 93 S10 Blazer with the CPI 4.3. Engine has bad rod. I bought a 96 4.3 w/o knowing that this was the year Chevy introduced the 2nd gen engine that carries many changes.
I know I need to swap 93 heads and intake onto 96 block. What else would need to be swapped? Will the 96 cast aluminum oil pan fit and clear in the 93 body? Is there any way to install 93 tin oil pan on the 96 block? I'm already familiar that the alum pan bolted to the bell housing or auto trans but figure that I can use engine mounts, strut rods and flywheel cover from the 93. The 93 is complete so I have anything I would need from that to transfer to the 96 block.
To look at it another way I can tear the 96 engine down to the point of being a running short block and swap over what ever is needed from the 93.
Thanks, Ken
