82 s-10 with idle issues
hello all, I just purchased a 1982 s-10 for a work truck and to haul around the dirt bike. It is my first experience with the 2.8l The truck had been sitting for over 7 years. I put a rebuilt carburetor(?) on it, and re-sealed the intake manifold. The truck has a real hard time starting and trying to idle. Once it is running it seems to do fine. I am told the computer controlls the idle air mixture. When I try and start it, if I give it any gas at all, it acts like the timing is way advanced. I've checked the timing and it is where it is supposed to be. I put all new cap, rotor, plugs, wires on it. Not all of the vacuum lines are hooked up. Is this setup problematic? Can I or should I go to a regular carburetor and vacuum advance distributor? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
