Default 86 Jeep

I know some of you may be thinking I am in the wrong forum. I have a 1986 Jeep Cherokee with a Chevy 2.8 V6 in it. I am having trouble getting it to run smoothly. The #6 cylinder is not firing.I have changed cap wires and plugs. Any and all suggestions helpful.

How do you know it's the number 6 cylinder? Have you checked spark and compression. It's throttle body injected right?

When it is running I pulled each plug wire off one at a time, each time I did that it stalled all except when I got to the #6 cylinder It just kept running so I figured that cylinder isnt effective. And it is carburated.

Pulling off one wire at a time and only one it should keep running, (not very well) but should continue to run.

Thats kind of what I mean so I figure it is running on actually 5 cylinders. And the #6 isn't firing.

See which ones are getting fire. Look at the distributor cap, it may have a hairline crackin in it, and make sure your wires are tight on the plugs and the distributor.

just pull the #6 plug hold it to the block with an insolated pair of pliers and get someone to roll the motor over then you will know if it fires or not. also check and if nesisary change the plugs wires cap and roter as well.
