87 S-10 engine swap
I want to swap the 2.8L V6 in my 87 S-10 for a 4.3L V6 from my wrecked 89 S-10. What problems/challenges might I encounter with this swap? I'm primarily concerned with the wiring harness. I expect everything else will be OK.
Does anyone have any knowledge or experience with this type of swap?
thanks

i'm in the process of doing pretty much the same thingto my 88 s-10 blazer 4x4, 'cept my donor engine is from a '91 astro van. my suggestion is to hit the junkyard and pull the complete engineharness from a truck that has a 4.3 in it. that way you'll have all the proper connectors and ecm for the 4.3. Even if you dont swap the whole harness, you'll have the correct connectors and some extra wire. One thing i have noticed is the wiring from the distributor is a different connector on the 2.8 and the 4.3. and my oil pressure sender is in a different location.Since you already have a donor truck maybe, you can save a few $$$ and use the harness from the 4.3 truck. make sure you keep your motor mounts to complete the swap. i also found out that early SBC mounts will work with some modifications. they seem to set the engine in the correct location, but are approx 1/2" wider than the 4.3 mounts. good luck
