That tells you that you have a hot lead to the starter that has bypassed the ignition. I take that it just turns over because it won't fire with the ignition turned off. I would start by checking the battery to starter cable and your solenoid. I don't think it's possible because of the terminal size difference but did you hook up the cables to your solenoid correctly?
