I just posted a similar issue with me 95-

The main thing causing the check engine soon, adn extremely rough, hard to start, dieing, was the EV0? (not sure exactly the name of the valve) but it was a valvle at the intake manifold that was "Clogged" with carbon. that fixed the bulk of the issue

If i were u ide check the fuel pump. Over the summer the place where i lived 3 of the 4 gas stations got bad gas and ruined the fuel pumps of every car that got gas from there. The gas company had to pay for the repairs but if i were u i would start of my checking the fuel pump and make sure u dont have bad gas.

dragonrpc, i believe the valve u r refering 2 is the EGR, which can get clogged with carbon, & cause u a big headache (like u had).

you are 100% right, just couldn't think of it at the time, EKG, ECG, EGR (glad you knew what I meant) [&:]

I have also learned in the recent weeks, that it is common for the 4.3 to run like crap due to injector clogs. several freind told me they add a injector flush to every tank or every other to prevent the headaches I went into (and the need to replace injectors when they get to bad)

well i appreciate eryones advice, recently the catalyc converted was shot into my muffler crinkling my muffler from the backfire, i took the muffler off and shook out all the excess honeycombs.... as far as the codes i could not find anyone to read it without chargin me out the *** so i went n did it myself the codes i'm gettin is the egr, no distributor refrence to the ecm, idle air control valve-which eryone keeps tellin me is a dealership part-but they have the one for carbeurated engines-go figure, and the map sensor... i replaced the mapsensor-it was like 45-50$, the egr was replaced a year ago-a new one will run me tween 150-200$..

so i geuss my only option is to replace the egr valve again, find the iac valve-install it, check the distributer to ecm...
if that doesn't cure my problem then imma get a baro sensor, feul filter, feul pump, injector, pcv valve, oxygen sensor, also minor oil leak on preassure hose from filter to engine...
then catalyc converter and a muffler...

yeah its alot but, i like my truck, n can't afford to get anyting else....

also once i replaced the tps it ran like a dream! but after driving for a while it would run rougher at idle n surge during acceleration to a point where i could only tap the gas to keep it from surging n dying out.... but hey it does sound alot better wit out da catalyc converter...lol i might have to get sum three inch deul flowmastrs to put on it...lol
