95 Chev s10 fuel leak
We had the head gasket blow, so pulled the head, had it shaved a bit and put it back in place. Everything seemed great. It started right up and drove around town a bit, then back to the garage for a final check under the hood and suddenly it won't start and the garage is reeking of gas fumes.
I popped the hood and with the key on, there is fuel spraying out of the fuel rail at the very back next to the firewall. This is the 2.2 4 cylinder engine. The fuel line comes up along the firewall and snugs into a fitting at the back of the manifold. The leak is happening where that fitting connects to the fuel fail and the manifold, not where the fuel line screws into the threaded fitting. I remember looking at this fitting and wondering if was going to be ok. Guess not.
So, I figure I am pulling the intake manifold and the fuel injection parts back off and out of the engine compartment so that I can tighten the fitting up.
Is there a trick to this? Anybody know of a way to tighten that fitting without removing the intake manifold?
Thanks for any suggestions.
Mike

I have done this a fewtimes on the cavaliers. I believe it has the same injector rails. I assume you are talking about the large nut where the line screw to the rails. I have been installing an o-ring in these things to fix the leak. Still to this day, I swear that there was never an o-ring there to begin with.
that's the one I am talking about. Is there any way to get at it and install the o-ring without pulling the entire intake manifold? I am thinking that's what I am going to have to do. Does the large nut simply screw out from the fuel rail, then install o-ring and screw it back in? or is that a nut on the backside that I have to get a hold on somehow?
I think if I was designing this particular element, I would have used a flex hose.
Thanks again for the help.
