where to find upgrade and Acrid smell...

where to find upgrade and Acrid smell...
Hey all,
I am trying to find a few upgrades for my 96 Chevy Blazer 4x4, I live in Alaska so I need something STURDY, you know?
I am not really good at finding these types of items, so if anybody has websites that these items may be at? please link for me? That'd be awesome.
If you are bored and want to search, I am cool with that too!
Now for the acrid smell...
after applying the brakes or stompin on the gas I get a whiffed of something, unsure of the smell, but it could possibly be freon, not 100% sure.
any ideas of what it could be? Thanks!
