Question 98 blazer lt 4.3

i just want to know how i take overdrive off cuz next spring/summer i want to pull my 20ft boat and i only see P R N D 3 2 1 and there is no hitch. smeone told me i can add a hitch and just use 3 to pull the boat so my ? is, is 3 overdrive off?

D is usually direct drive, D inside an O is overdrive. So you may not even have overdrive, I could be wrong though. Otherwise yes, just leave it in 3rd.

ya i dont see no d with a o around it and i dont see any overdrive button anywhere so pulling my boat on 3 wont hurt the tranny

It'll use more gas, but that's it. The 4.3 is a pretty powerful engine, you should be able to leave it in D and tow it without a problem.

did you look on the end of the shifter arm? Thats where the button is on mine.

The way the gear ratios are D is Overdrive 3 is the 1:1 ratio D will alow the trasnmission to shift to a .7:1 ratio and it will allow TCC lock up. So unless you want to burn up your trans it would be wise to tow in 3 instead of D, that's what I do anyway.
