Default air leak around throttle shaft

94 s-10 was smoked and showed a leak on both ends of the throttle shaft. sealed back end w/ an o-ring but the front still leaks. am considering a few drops of blue thread sealant so there will be no gap. the question is: How could it wear there since that shaft has bearings? thanks for any wisdom

It's 24 years old. Everything eventually wears out. You can take it apart and replace the bushings or get a rebuilt throttle body. Thread sealant won't work because it is a moving part.

Hi oldchevy:

The shaft has sealed ball bearings, sealant should fill any void between the inner race and the shaft but how/why is it worn there? w/ (sealed) ball bearings there should be no wear.
