Can anyone explain the difference
i have a 98 blazer ls. when rebuilding the tranny i broke the Automatic range selector cable aka shift cable. There is a plastic tube under the boot that goes from the bracket that locks it into place to the shifter on the transmission. I managed to break it.
I've been looking for the cable. Accordign to my vin number the part number that chev says i need is 1518200. i find a cable for the same year car LS model that is part number 1518198. It is only 56 dollars and the 1518198 is 105 dollars.
So i called up Gm and asked them the difference in the two cables. THe only answer i get is that the 1518200 cable is for cars with a electronic 4wd engage activator.
WTH? Ok how does a shift cable that only goes from the column to the transmission and never even touches the transfer case, nor is there any electrical connection different from one that goes to a manual 4wd engage?
Can anyone explain the difference? Does anyone know if i buy the 1518198 cable and use it if it would work?
Thanks
