Carburetors
I've got a 1985 2.8L 4 speed S-10, and it takes FOREVER to start when it's cold. I think it's choke on the carburetor but im not sure and I haven't got off my *** and really looked at it yet. I basically have to pump the gas really quick while my engine's turning, and then i have to hold my foot on the gas at around 4500 RPMs for a minute or two before I can let my foot off the gas and not have my truck stall again. Any idea what the problem might be?
Before you crank the motor over, give the gas pedal one pump. That'll squirt a bit of gas down the throttle bode, and set the choke on. Crank it over, if it doesn't start right away, give it a few pumps....If it still takes forever, check out your fuel pump, make sure you have pressure, and good volume. Check the fuel filter. If the gas checks out ok, you may have to get the carb adjusted
