Default charging system

I have a 94 s-10 witht he 2.2 liter engine. A short time ago, i had it taken apart for some rust repairs. The truck runs fine. But most of the gauges do not work . Actually they have not worked for years. I understand that when one gauges goes bad the whole assembly would need to be replaced.

i put a volt meter on the pick up to check the charging system it read 12.5 volts. Would this be normal? I had other vehicles that would charge at around 14 volts. Thanks... Hope you can help

Default RE: charging system

12.5 is kinda low. I don't think you can turn that up, but if it is running and starting every day I wouldn't worry to much. I had a friend with a 84 crown vic that would kill her bat, it ran off the bat out of my Sanoma fine untill I tried to drive it at night with the lights on. I put it back in my Sanoma and it started just fine. (v-8 to v-6 though) The gauges will be one peice. If you pull them out the whole thing will come out and it will have one plug, so unless you feel like trying to find a bad spot and reparing it an new instrument cluster will be needed.
