check engine light
I have a 97 with the 4.3 with a check engine light on . I went to autozone and the code reader stated low voltage to map sensor. Whats up with that? They said they didn't know.

MAF sensor... Check all the connections to it and buy you a can of MAF sensor-safe cleaner and give it a good cleaning.
The Mass Airflow sensor operates by measuring the amount of air that passes by it and the velocity at which it passes. The sensor sends the message back to the computer by raising or lowering the resistance of the connection. If the connection of the wires is loose or the sensor is dirty, it can cause it to give a high resistance reading, lowering the voltage routed back to the computer and tus tripping your check engine light.

hey euro, there is a MAP sensor (Manifold Absolute Pressure) on a 97 4.3L V6, just a correction on euro, u can clean it, but be careful, i would just spend like the 10 or 15 on a new one, my check engine light is on, but its because my catalytic converter took a crap and was falling apart from the inside, was makin a loud rattle, so i chopped it out and welded in a piece of straight pipe, sounds better at idle and take off, fuel milage is worse then it was, but i now know that all GM vehicles have an 80,000 mile warranty on the converters, i learned this at 80,100, and i dont even pay attention to the light anymore, it goes on & off from time to time, but oh well,
