Default frame horns and welding questions

I have a 2000 s10 with a semi-mangled front frame horn. a 2000 s10 uses weld-on front frame horns
My question is, if I cut off the mangled frame horn and replace with one from the parts yard of similar vintage, must it be welded on? I know older S10 models had bolt-on frame horns of a different style, but has anyone seen the frame horns from latter models bolted on instead of welding them on?

If I were to weld them on, what all should I disconnect electrically before welding?
I would guess the battery and computer should be disconnected at a minimum but I would appreciate any tips from someone who has been there done that. I have a flux-core Lincoln Electric machine that I have never even used.

Thanks

Just disconnect the battery if you're that worried about it but if you use your ground lead and you're doing flux for sure you change the electrode depositive if it isn't already and ground your lead as close as possible to the welding as you will not have any problems as long as you do that
I have 10 years active welding and multiple years of experience and am 5 years mobile welding repairs.
business owner of a mobile welding business as of right now.
That is if I can repair my truck and get one going. Sadly I can fix everybody else's stuff but not my own
