First off, this board is awesome as it has helped me solve some problems as soon as I began reading some of the threads.

Secondly, I was all about getting a Ford Ranger as my first vehicle, but as soon as I drove a buddy of mines blazer I knew that is the first truck that I want to own.

I found a 2000 Blazer(Four door + 4WD) with 140,000 miles on it at a used dealership. It just made it on to the lot. I paid $3,500. Everything inside is clean with no tears or abrasion and the body is in excellent shining condition.

It had only minor problems I fixed myself such as:

• Replaced a Torn Sparkplug wire that was causing a miss
• Had to replace catalytic converter
• My locking gas cap didn't create a good vacuum

The only other problems that I need to address are very minor such as the outside air temperature sensor reading OC (found this fix on this thread somewhere), and my driver side power window isn't working.

So did $3,500 sound like a good payment or could I have possibly done better?

 

Texter ... the most consistent pricing information I've found to buy in any area is available at Edmunds.com. They refer to it as fair market value.

I entered the basics of your Chevy Blazer and the fair market value for that truck in my zip code is almost $3,300.

This estimate is based on LS trim package ... if you have LT the value could be a few hundred more.

It sounds like you accepted the truck with a few warts but I think we all do.

I hope you either had a mechanic look at the truck. If not, did you hold out for some sort of warranty?

I forgot to mention ... I just had the 0C problem on my 2004 S-10.

I had to remove grill - very easily done - and cleaned corrosion around the temperature sensing bulb.

Works like a champ now.

 

Thanks, Edmunds is great. Priced at about $3,600 from dealers in my zipcode.

I did take it to a mechanic who felt it was in reasonable condition.

I'm going to try to take my grill off today to see if cleaning my sensor will fix it. Hopefully it will. Thanks!

I guess it all depends on what goes on it first.thats alot of miles. i have been checking around for awhile, because all i wanted was a jimmy or a blazer. and in my area in florida they are running around 5,000.00 with 100,000 or better. so when we found mine for 3,500.00 we jumped on it. then we couldn't get it to go in gear to drive it off they took another 1,000.00 off and its only has 44,000 miles on it. i think you got a good deal. hope you are as happy with yours as i am with mine.
