Default High Rpms

I have a 2003 s10 4.3 auto when I am driving at 60 rpms are abought 2500 and when I put the hammerdown to pass it is a 6000 rpm like that I have no idea what is going on it. Is it the motor or trans want to know what is wrong I bout it new in 2003. thanks all

If I understand you correctly it sounds like your transmission is slipping...that's usually the culprit whenever your speed does not increase exponentially compared to your rpms (or clutch in a vehicle equipped with a manual transmission).

Is this a costly Fix she has a 140,000 miles on it how long I Have on this trans and is it worth the fix

if its a auto you have to get the trans rebuilt or replaced so 2-5000.
if its a manual a clutch will probably be around 400 installed

Its a Auto abought how long do I have left on it and if the trans gose will the motor blow as well. Is there any thing I can put in the trans to make it last longer or is it shot to hell.
