Default I could really use some help, please

So, I have a 98 S10 single cab I bought a few months ago, and realized the radio was dying and the speakers were blown, so I got new ones to replace them. I had to run new wire through the doors and behind the dash for the speakers, but it seems to fit alright. My problem is the cd player. I bought a Sony CD-X GT700HD radio, and I can't figure out how to hook up the power source. (I have to connect one wire to a constant power source, and another to an intermittent power source)
I looked up the color codes for the factory radio and spliced the factory wires to the new wires according to their function, but nothing happens. This is really frustrating me, and any help on what to connect to where would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

They sell plugs that connect directly into your trucks factory harness. You splice that to the radio harness color to color and you are done.

Where could I get one of those? Do I need a specific type?
