Need your opinion on my '98 S10
First, a disclaimer: I am not a car enthusiast and I know very little about cars...but I need some advice regarding my situation with my 1998 Chevy S-10 (regular cab). It has almost 130,000 miles on it. In the past 5 years, we have already had to replace the transmission system. In the past 6 months, I have had to replace the alternator AND the radiator is now busted. To boot, the AC is not working (re-charging with freon proved unsuccessful, so there is a leak) and it is getting to be unbearble (as I live in Florida).
I just want ot hear some opinions on the matter. I am hesitant to fix the car, as it seems to be going downhill. Would it be better to put that money towards a downpayment on a new car? If I fixed these problems, how much more life do you think the car has? Any similar stories or advice at all would be great...
Thankyou.

You almost worked out all the bugs, keep it til the engine blows..... As far as the A/C system goes you will need a new oriface tube if your system takes freon but doesn't get cold this is a $3.00 part from advance. I just redid my a/c system on my blazer. Easy fix. they are great little trucks once you work out all the bugs....

I would keep it. I got a 95 ZR2 I have to get it inspected and I need breaklines, balljoints(replaced once before), new brakes, freeze plugs, tailgate, rear shocks, and a transfer case. So alot of money and sweat. But I love that truck comfortable, looks good, runsgood at 125,000 miles.i'd keep it

yeah i would suggest keeping it. however, if you don't want to spend the money then go buy a new one. in my experience, in the first 8 months that i had my truck i spent probably close to three grand on basic stuff that kept going out here and bustin there, but in the last year all i have done is put my money into performance parts and everything is great with it. cars cost you money and you'll never get a penny of it back. if you really think about it. but the choice is up to you.
