Default New to forum and I have a question

Hello!
I recently purchased a 1995 S-10 ex cab 4x4 5 speed. I got a decent deal on it and i plan on restoring as a keeper, but it is gonna need a lot of tlc to get it nice. Mostly little DYI stuff, some not so little too. I am not a master mech by any stretch, but I discovered Forums and YouTube are your friends!

The biggest question i have so far is this....... This truck has both 4x4 push buttons on the dash and a 4x4 shift lever on the floor! WTF? Both look factory too. I cant tell if the 4x4 system works yet because i have only had it a couple of days and wont have time until next weekend, but the lever seems to move as it should but no indicator that the 4x4 is engaged lights up. The dash buttons don't light up or anything either.

Looking at interior pics from the web, it appears that the 1995 came with push buttons, but I am not sure if that is the case for the 5 speed. If the 95 5 speed came with the floor shifter, then maybe someone swapped the dash out and the buttons don't do anything?? If it came with the buttons from the factory, is it possible someone converted it from an auto to a stick from a slightly older model that had the 4x4 shift lever on the floor? What am I missing?

Anyway, any input is appreciated. Wish me luck. I'm gonna need it!
