Yes. Take off the intake and if you see oil, replace the PCV valve.

If the o2 sensors were bad would it kick out a code?

Yes, it will kick out a code. It also detects if the system is running too lean or too rich, and if it runs too lean for too long or too rich for too long, the computer may try to override the code, thus causing the vehicle to lose power.

I am assuming you did a full tune up on this thing? do you have a vacume leak anywhere? How about the Timing? do you know if the computer is advancing or retarding the timing as it needs to through out the power band? Have you checked compression? maybe you have a major compression loss in a cylinder. If you can check the coil output. make sure you are getting a good strong spark. other than that i don't know. you could also take the intake off and take it to a shop and have it "steam cleaned"(I would find a shop to do it before pulling the intake though)... I used to work at a ford dealership and we had this heated power parts cleaner that i put my intake in.... It removed all signs of carbon build up.. It looked like a brand new intake from the dealer. anyways it increased my power a good bit as well as drivability. That was a 4.3 but i would assume you could get similar gains from a 2.2. Check your injectors. I don't know how the fuel injection is set up on those but if its TBI you could only have 1 injector firing. And on that note dont forget about the fuel filter. It only cost like 10 bucks and is cheap insurance to any problems. and on the fuel sysem note check fuel pressure.
