I have a 2000 s10 p/u that dies when the temperature outside gets above 85. I can drive it to work in the morning and be just fine but if it is hot when I go home it will die after about 15 minutes. When it dies I have to turn the truck off and restart and it will start and drive for 5 or 10 minutes before it does it again. It has been doing this in the summer for about 3 years. I never have problems in the winter only in the summer when it is hot.

did you find answer to this problem??? I have the same....great in winter, dies when its hot out.....last year it would take 30 minutes of driving, then I would die every 2-3 miles depending on how long I let it cool.

I am also having this problem with 1998 GMC Jimmy. Did anyone get any information on this? No engine check lights.

check the resistance in your ignition control module when it conks out. it is probably overheating and developing high resistance which the spark cant overcome. when it cools down it works because resistance has lowered.

I replaced the ignition control module just last year at someone else's suggestion and the problem went away for a while, but has since returned, so I doubt this is the true source. Could something else be cause the module to fail so quickly?

If there is something wrong with the wiring it will cause it to fail. Heat is also a cause for failure. Has something changed where the module is mounted? Has anything changed under the hood to cause higher heat?

yea like OldChevy said PLUS did you use an Delco or Delphi part or some wack part made in Vietnam? Poor quality parts have poor quality heat shields.
