my 2001 s10 truck with 4.3 auto. and 84k idles and revs great, but as soon as i put it in drive it shakes, bucks and wants to stall. however in reverse it runs fine. any ideas?

 

Do you have the service engine light on? That could be many things but I would start with the tps (throttle position sensor) on the throttle body. Then maby check to see if the fuel pressure is right. Check plugs wires cap and button may be a vacuum leak too.

 

I checked a lot of what you mentioned and replaced some of thos eparts in the last year, but why does problem occur only in drive ,not reverse gear?

 

Because when in reverse gear you dont get a drive range like when you are in drive. Are you still having issues with it? Or have you found out what is wrong with it.

 

still not fixed. I do not have a drive issue per se as you suggest because I havent moved vehicle out of driveway. with left foot on brake and in reverse at say 2000rpm, no problem. In drive at idle or 1000 or 2000rpms I have problem. Put another new coil and coil wire, but no help.
sometimes though in drive it is ok.

 

Sorry you are having problems that cant seem to be resolved.Thats the ones that I wish I could look at first hand to see and hear what is really going on with the truck. Makes it harder to determine what is actually going on with it. Without being able to see or hear it act up. Got to be something simple that you may be over looking. Because you said sometimes it's fine in drive. You didn't find any vacuum leakes any where?

 

I changed a couple vacuum hoses . Otherwise all seem okay I sprayed water all over them , what i could get to.

 

Hi! I also got a s10 with a 4.3 and its constantly shaking and I dont know why... And the computer said that I had vaccum leakes. but it seem to shake from behind and it sound like a scrap beering but it seem to be all right I really dont understand.. I changed one of the universal joint on the driving shaft that was scrap but that didnt seem to had made a difference.. We've put oil in the differential but nothing happen. Someone else got An idea or specification for the vaccum leakes

I am having the same prob and no one seems to be able to pinpoint it. it seems simple . mine runs ok for the first min so then gets worse as it warms? Ive done the fuel pump plugs wires cap. the only code mine throughs is #6 injector? i will post of i figure it out. plz do the same for me

 

im having a simiar problem with my astro van 94. all of a sudden it started to shutter and stall on me in park or in gear. the only notible thing is filling the gas tank to full the other day. maybe the evapurator canister got damaged it yu over fill yur tank?? i havent checked my vehicle yet but it seems to me that checking the throttle caple to make sure it is ajusted corrected could help, if yur like me and likes to step on the gas.
