s10 transmission problems

Default s10 transmission problems-please help.

On my 99 chevy s10, my transmission was sliping going into first gear, so i changed my gasket & filter. Put 5 qts of fluid. when done it didnt want to engage at all, i let it run for a while,now its slipping worse than before.it wouldnt even go in reverse. when running i can hear a whineing sound.Can anybody help?

5 quarts might not be enough ! hen you started it did you let it run and checked the fluid > if the front pump is working right then the fluid should be down some and you need to put more in ! if it,s low after you start it then fill it but leave it about 1/2 pints low, take it for a drive and then check it again ! if it,s down then fill it to the full mark !

You need a new transmission. Once it get to the point of slipping changing the fluid only makes it worse. All the remaining friction material was suspended in the fluid now that you put new fluid in there is no friction left thus it slips worse. You were to late the fluid should have been changed long long ago.
