i picked up a 91 S10 Tahoe 4x4 extended cab that has a transmission problem. the guy i bought it from said the trans had a leak so he took it to a shop and when he got it back the leak was fixed but it wouldn't shift into 3rd gear. prior to having the leak fixed the trans shifted fine. the truck has a 4.3 v6 so i figure the trans must be a thm700. a friend has offered me a thm350, claiming that it will bolt right up and work fine. i'm skeptical. can anyone help? thanx

 

well most 4.3's had the 4l60e not a thm700r and my tranny did the same thing what has happened is the clutches have gone out of the higher gears and won't catch anymore. Basically it had been run on low fluid for too long too hard. You will probably need to replace or rebuild it. Mine cost me $1200 to rebuild that will be the approximate cost.
