Hey guys looking for an answer I have a 1999 ZR2 Blazer . My issue is when i put it in 4X4 i get intermittent bang in the front end, like the front end is coming out of 4X4 . Im going to pull the side case apart and look at the gear and shift fork . Has anyone else had this issue, and do i sound like im heading in the right direction by inspecting the front axle shift fork and gear ?

is it when u push the button to put it in or when u start to move... cause my ZR2 the straps that hold on the cv boots broke letting water into them and when i put it in 4x4 in cracks and bangs when u start to take off then stops but it was in 4 wheel

 

No its not a CV joint i think its internal in the front diff

 

I HAD THE BANGS on my CREW CAB ZR5 ended up being the front differential waasn't fully engaging , I got a salvaged one and no more problems
