Will Jimmy engine fit in a Blazer????
Hello
I have a 1997 Jimmy 4 door 4x4 with auto transmission and recently it started to get some engine knock. It is pretty much toast. I have a buddy that has a 2003 Jimmy 2 door 4x4standard transmission. He rear ended someone so he is selling me the engine alone. Both vehicles have the 4.3L. My question will this engine just drop right in the 97 blazer with no modifications and will the wiring harness be the same. Would I need to change out the ECU? Thanks in advance guys

You will have to change the ECU. Basically the ECU has to stay with the engine it has always been on. As far as fitment, it'll sit right down in the Blazer. You'll have a litte intake config to do because it was updated in 98.
You might want to research more. The emission controls and wire harnesses are going to be different. Although the basic engine may be the same, they may have used different versions of the 4.3. The engine should be a drop in, but you will have to switch over most, if not all, of the bolt ons.
get the vin number off the wrecked vehicle and keep it in a very safe place i ran into this with my truck putting in a 93 tbi 454 into a 81 1 ton p/u i can almost guarantee that the ecu is different and the wiring harness is different but if you have the vin for both vehicles you should be able to contact a local dealer and they will tell you what you need as far as a harness and ecu. good luck hope you dont have the headache i had to deal with.
