Default More Z28 mods!

So this week I have been working on putting on some of the stuff I bought at the collector auto fest in Raleigh last weekend. Most of it was superficial things like a radiator cap and a breather nut, but I did buy an chrome alternator fan & pulley and a stainless alternator bracket. I repainted the compressor pulley and clutch, touched up a few bolt heads and also repainted the alternator while I was working on it.

I actually had quite a time taking the old pulley off. I rounded the nut off after repeated tries to get it off, so I gave up on it and got an identical alternator off a decommissioned 77 model 350 that was on the donor pickup that uncle gary is using for his 58 Apache restoration. Although rusty, that nut immediately came off and I painted it and put the new pulley kit on it. I mounted it on the Z28 and cranked it up to discover that the lights were very dim and the voltmeter was making its way below 12 pretty quick. I took the alternator out and took it apart and pieces of the stator came out in my hand. My uncle and I ended up carefully cutting the nut off with the dremel and replacing the pulley that way.

But here is the final result after quite a while putting it on... check it!

Here is a BEFORE shot...
