Default 2003 speedometer sticks help

i have replaced the sensor but the speedometer is still sticking. usually only happens when get on the hwy or when driving for 30 min or so. would be greatful for any help

digital or analog display? handle came off the shaft?
make sure you don't have electric transmission shifter, as then you could have seperate TSS - transmission speed sensors.

it has a analog display. didnt see the handle off.how can i tell if it has a electric trans shifter or a TSS? thanks for the help. the 3 and 1/2 drive to work is a pain with no speedometer . ive been using the the driver info computer to get a ides of my speed

Your stepper motor in the head assembly is going bad. Common problem. Check with your dealer, there is sort of a recall/reembursment in place for this.

took it to the dealership today annd they said that it was the instrament cluster. they are saying around $650 parts and labor, or 450 for just the part but it will still have to be programed. and of course that( GMTECH 2)is suposedly a GM tool only . said that they would have to talk to there rep. and see if they would do anything to help on it or not but since I bought it used that they probably wouldnt do anything. so know im trying to find somewhere that it calls for a recall on it because wheather its one owner or 2nd owner they should have to replace it .
