Default 2006 Silverado 1500 resistor question

Hello,
I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. On my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 I had the common issue of my blower motor not working on 5. It would work on 1,2,3,and 4 just fine but when I went to full blast nothing. Unfortunately I was over mileage for the recall so I just used it as is. Finally my blower wouldn't work at all so I purchased the resistor at the dealer.

I installed the resistor but it still wouldn't blow on 5. I looked at the plug and noticed it was burnt out on the red wire. Over the course of a month it would periodically work on 5 but not very often.

I recently purchased a new plug and spliced it in place (I was sure to mark each wire so I hooked it back up correctly) but still 5 isn't working.

So I'm wondering, could the resistor be partially bad because I originally used that old plug? The only thing I can think of is that I burned out the number 5 terminal on the new resistor when I used that old plug.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
