Lightbulb Whining sound coming from tranny or transfercase

I have a 94 1500 4wd and recently noticed a whining coming from the transmission the best i can tell. It only starts after i have driven for a few miles and the engine gets warm. It does it while driving and the noise increases with accelaration, but it also continues when in park and idling. What has me puzzled is i can turn the truck off and restart and its gone again until i drive a few miles. It has slipped very slightly twice which led me to believe it was transmission but the fact that the noise is not permanent gives me hope its maybe a sensor. Anyone experience this kind of problem before? Thanks for any help, much appreciated.

I got a used tranny, put it in and had no shifts and no speedo. bought another tranny, put it in, same problem. Brought truck to local aamco and they notices my VSS wires had come undone, and that fixed my speedo and shifting, so it seems. Now i only have 1st and 2nd, and reverse. 3rd seems like its in neutral or back to 1st gear.
so after aamco told me this, i swapped the tranny again, and still same problem. good 1st, 2nd and reverse. but 3rd feels like neutral. please help me, i would hate to pay for a rebuilt tranny and have to do this a 4th time if not nessessary
sry to have to be the one to tell you bad news I rebuild transmissions and it sound like to me 1 of 2 things 1) your 3/4 shift solonoid is out which is an easy fix you can do 2) your3/4 clutches are burnt. If your check engine light is on take it to Oreilly's haven use their obd2 reader and it will tell for sure if it's the shift solonoid

Default Swapped trans from a 94 into my 1993 GMC Sierra k1500

After the swap the truck shifts fine goes through gears good but when I get up to highway speeds Overdrive doesn’t kick in so it just sits at 3000 rpms if I’m going 65. Anyway I could fix this issue?
