Going through the exact same thing with my 87 S10, Auto Zone sells an in line fuel pressure gauge for bout $15. I had to remove the steel fuel line from the throttle body intake and cut it in 1/2 and installed a short length of 3/8" fuel line the pressure gauge and another short length of fuel line. Depending on your fuel lines, this can be extremely frustrating. Because my filter was down below, I simply got rid of a lot of the old fuel line and relocated the filter to the fender(under hood) and ran some new hose and added the gauge after the filter but before the throttle body.
