Bad Speedometer?

Bad Speedometer?
I have a 2004 extended Cab Chevy Silverado with the z71 package. It only has 47000 and the speedometer has went out! Chevy said they have alot of problems with this, and that it would be a flat rate of $500...
anyone else have problems?

what mileage did it stop at? Ours stopped at 46239K we're at 47399 now, and GM won't fix it. Said because we're second owners... what's that got to do with anything! It's a huge safety issue!
