Chevvy 6.2 problems changing gear

Chevvy 6.2 problems changing gear
Hi guys
im new to the forum i have not long picked up a Chevvy Cheyenne Pick up its a 6.2 V8 diesal
i have a small issue with it i hope you guys can help
now and again the speedo will stop working, brake dash light comes on and heater stops working and the truck will not shift out of first. its as if it goes in to a safe mode of some sort
if i stop turn the truck off and start it up again its fine. it only does this every now and again its not frequent at all
have you guys go any ideas on what this could be? there are not many experts on these trucks over here in the UK
