Is it the fuel pump?
I have a 2000 Chevy Silverado with the 5.3 engine. It was running fine until I stopped at the store and turned off the engine. When I came back out it wouldn't start. The engine seems to be turning over really fast or faster than normal when I try to start it but it never fires up. I'm wondering if the fuel pump has went out. Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

You need to do some trouble shooting before jumping to fuel pump. Pull a plug wire of and stuck and extra plung on it that is grounded to the block. Have some one crank it and see if you have a good blue spark. If you do open the air intake and squirt some gas in it and see if it fires. One of the two ought to tell you something.
