I recently bought (imported) a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado LS and I have a very simple and naive question: Do the interior lights go "on" when you open the cab doors...? Obviously mine doesn't, reason for this posting.

Yes it should, you may have a blown fuse. Can you use your headlight switch or override switch near the headlight switch and turn it on manually?

This will let you see if the lamp is okay. Then it most likely is something to do
with the door switches.

I remember having the same issue when I got my 2008 LT. There is a dome "override" button to the left of the steering column. That fixed mine. Check in your owners manual as well

 

OK, here are my findings:

The overhead light turns on both manually and through the "dome" switch. I cannot locate any door switch as like other cars, however I can read on the display info that my door is open. Still unable to have the light turn on when I open the door
