Default no rr brake light at trailer hook up

2004 2500HD When I hook up my boat, everything works, except the right brake light on the trailer. But if I turn on the right turn signal, then the brake light will work for awhile. This problem is intermittent. Is this a relay issue or something else?
Thanks Ron

so for clarification. does the right brake light on the truck work when you push the brakes? does the right turn signal work all the time? one last question... have you checked for power at the 7 pin connector?

Yes, all the lights on the truck work 100% of the time. The bulbs are good and the 7 pin conector good. The lack of right brakelight was discovered by adding a LED light bar across the back of the truck under the tail gate. They wired it in at the 7pin connector and everyting functioned except the right brake light portion of the light bar. It only lit intermittently, or after the right turn signal had been operated. If I didn't tow or didn't add the light bar I would have never known about the problem. The truck functions properly.

Im no expert or anything, but if the lightbar doesn't work properly and they wired it into the 7 pin connector, sounds like I would check the grounds and mke sure they are all good and tight and have good contact with a metal surface. Or check the splices and see if the right brake light connection is not shorting out or has shorted out.
