Default P0449

My engine light came on and it's a P0449. I have about 47,000 miles on the truck. Is it worth changing the gas cap or should I just install a new solenoid? If I install a new solenoid, whrere is it located? Thanks

I have been reading up on your problem. Dont quite understand but they are Vapor Canister Purge Solenoid and a few people suggest taking it to the dealer or contacting them because it deals with emmision which is usually a longer warranty. I dunno though. Never had this problem. I did learn it is bad to fully top up my truck now so I need to stop doing that. Guess thats one of the reason this problem occurs. Ecspecially if you let it sit for awhile after. Hope this is some help.

I've swapped my gas cap 4 times in 22,000 miles, and need to do it again. I suggest seeing if the dealer will do it and go from there.

My father-in-law had this problem with his truck one time 2 years ago. They told him he was tightening his gas cap too hard and to only do it to the first click he hears. He hasn't had a problem since. Don't know if that helps any of you?
