Hello everyone,

In the below picture what is the switch used for? I have found it on several different Chevrolet Silverados...including the one I am debating to purchase.
( the switch is the silver toggle just below the speedometer )

Good question, my first guess would have been an aftermarket fog light switch but in that pic it looks like they have installed a push button switch for the fog lights. Maybe they had a winch or a tow chip on and off

It activates the flux capacitor. Don't flip it until you hit 88 mph.

That, or it might be for the optional passenger ejector seat.

All of your answers gave me a very good laugh, especially the flux capacitor as it had me on Google for several minutes looking at space age technology for my truck. Although the ejector would be great for when my girlfriend mouths off....

So really? Is it a time travel button? Should I call James T Kirk from Star Trek?

Looks like the truck is a work truck. Judging by the amount of time i have spent working on AT&T vehicles my best guess would be that the switch was used to turn on some rear work lights or something along those lines.

see if you can find a wire or something coming from the swith and trace it out.

The thing is I have not yet purchased the truck, so tearing it apart might not be appreciated. I first saw the switch on the truck in question of buying. After that I went on craigslist and ebay and found several other trucks with the same switch...which leads me to believe it is a common switch. Either way, I going back to look more on Monday...will post what it is.

might save u time and email a few ppl on CL and ask what it is on there trucks.. ask a few different ppl..
