If memory serves, generally it's 8 BTDC, but it varies a little from model to model.

If you can't find it, try setting it by ear.

The emmision info on my 95 says 0 but I have it advanced about 8 degrees and only run 93 octane. That's with the factory TBI electronics.

yea mine was factory at 12.... i heard putting them at 8 will give you the most out of the TBI 350... if its stock... like say port and polished head the heads and time it to 8 and then put a better coil and cap set up on her and that STOCK 350 TBI from what i have heard will come alive

This is a stroll down memory lane for me, take the 5 minutes to make sure the rotor and cap are intact, in good condition, and screwed down tight, with no pitting or carbon tracks. If it's HEI, make sure the dielectric grease at the bottom of the ECM isn't dried out to dust.(precursor to an ECM burnout) Pre-HEI, that condenser goes bad even though it has no moving parts, replace it EVERY TIME YOU REPLACE YOUR POINTS or you'll have a broad, blatty dwell, instead of a sharp, crisp, clean spark.

The harmonic balancer sleeve on the GM crankshafts tends to slip on some engines, so that timing mark can't be absolutely trusted. Mark it where it is right now, and try advancing it a little, and retarding it a little, gradually. You'll have to run it @1/4 tank of gas between adjustments to see any real improvement.

Yes.

You would think that they would slip to the retarded side, but I can't say I've never dealt with one that didn't slip advanced.
