the 4.3 has the power to pull it. it depends on the gearing tho. if his truck has 3.73's or 4.10's, shouldn't have a problem. i wouldn't expect to maintain hiway speeds or pull hills at 60+mph, but it'll pull.

A v-8 would be much better, and easier. But like maxxman said, if it has 3.73s or better, it'll pull it well enough.

It should do it but it will work hard to get it done. It will also use alot of gas.

we have a 24ft trailer and I had a 93 gmc with v6 with the 3.42 differential,
it would pull the trailer but on long hills it would start to get hot, the truck was just overloaded.

currently I have a 2500 series with 350 engine and 3.73 differental even this truck has a bit of a problem with trailer on long steep hills. It only has 250 hp and 330 foot pounds of torque.

If you can get a 4.10 differential for the v-6 you should be able to pull the trailer, may want to also install a larger radiator.

If you have hills you still may not be satisfied with the trucks performance.
I do not like having to watch the temp gauge all the time.

Hi chadk8604,

Welcome to the Chevy Forums.

What it would help to know is:

Are you just towing it to a local campsite, within a couple hundred miles,

Or are you talking about long trips cross country on the interstate?

Because while I know there are things that suck worse than being broke down 5 states away from home on vacation, I can't bring any to mind right now.
I know somebody who used to tow a small trailer with a Lumina minivan without problems. But she limited it to very short trips. The Lumina-Trailer show wouldn't have lasted two days cross country, on the open road.
