Default tranny cooler - 2500HD 6.0l

I replaced my tranny cooler this morning because of a leak that developed. I replaced it with a slightly larger sized one. I had to make a road trip of about 180 miles, half of which is up hill. By the time I arrived my temp had climbed to about 275 degrees. I typically never rose above 200? I cant figure out what I did wrong. I did add one quart of fluid and afterwards realized that it was a type 4 fluid. Would that be enough to cause the problem? Is it possible to get an air pocket in there or something? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks ahead of time!

The only thing I can think of, is the tranny cooler that you replaced the stock one with, has a larger tube size thus flowing through the cooler faster than the stock one and not getting a chance to cool. Maybe?????
