Default 05 Silverado 1500 5.3L Fuel Filter???

Does the 2005 silverado 1500 5.3l v8 have a fuel filter? no mechanic seems to be able to find one on my truck but i hear people talking about it all the time. anyone know? thanks, matt

I think it wouldn't be smart if it didn't. (although I'm not 100% sure). On my 4.8 silverado my fuel filter is in the frame rail, drivers side in front of the fuel tank. Good luck.

Below is straight from the service manual. Most manufactures have done away with the serviceable fuel filter.

"The fuel filter is located in the fuel sender assembly, inside the fuel tank. Vehicles with dual tanks, have no fuel filter in the rear tank fuel sender assembly. There is no service interval for fuel filter replacement, and no service procedure for replacing fuel filter."

Yes the fuel filter is in the tank, and don't worry, all you do is every 30-40K miles just change your tank.

returnless fuel systems put approx. 1/5th the quantity of fuel through the filter as a system with a return line would. This equates to 180k before the returnless system filter would need changing.

So don't change anything until the fuel pump dies of old age.
