Hi everyone. This is my first post. I have a 2006 chev 1500 HD w/ the 6.0. I bought the truck around April of this year. When I bought the truck the oil pressure was a little above 40. Now when I start the truck up the oil pressure goes straight to 80 and stays there whether stopping or going. I did change the oil after I got it, but the oil pressure stayed a little above 40 after changing. Just wondering if it will hurt my motor if I continue to drive it, and what might be the problem. Sorry for the long post.

 

I'd question the guage

 

Have you taken the vehicle to the dealership, yet? They will be able to let you know what is going on, or at least, know what to do to test and see what the issue is. Let me know what you hear.
