Default 08 Wind Noise

I have the NBS 08 Silverado 1500. What do you experience for wind noise?

Around 65 to 75 mph if it's not windy the truck is fine. If there is any type of head wind though from the right side of the windshield it sounds like popcorn is being made. It's annoying like you wouldn't believe. I spoke to the dealership who said it's normal. They haven't heard it and I'm waiting for a windy day to take it to them to listen to but has anyone else heard this?

Granted I do expect to hear some noise but not constant popping. I was wondering if it had something to do with the radio anntena so I may try to remove that to see if it goes away. There is also the Onstar anntena on the roof in that area.

Ive got an 07 NBS, ive never heard a popping sound at highway speeds. Thats odd. I hear the normal stuff when its windy, but never anything like popcorn. I dont see how that would be considered "normal". Sometimes I think the dealership will tell you anything you want to hear so they dont have to work on your new, warrantied truck for free. Go somewhere else and get a second opinion.

Very interesting since I have a bug shield. Since I have had it from almost day 1 I don't know what the truck did without it. I can tell you that today there is no wind and doing 75 down the freeway the popping noise wasn't there.

We did try pushing up on the windshield while it was making the noise but that didn't solve any problems. I was hoping by pushing it the noise would stop which would tell me it's a bad seal.

Now I guess I don't know if it's the bug shield or if it's the truck. I guess I could take the shield off for a few weeks and see what happens.

I also hear a popping, of slapping noise. 2007 Silverado Classic. I noticed while driving a rubber strip flapping and hiting the hood. There are two of them one on each end of the fresh air intake, at the bottom of the windshield. Look near the antenna. I had the same noise on my 2000 Silverado. The purpose of this rubber piece appears to be concealmant of part of the hood mounting bracket. I just used a cable tie to secure it to the bracket. I'm readed for Austin tomorrow I'll seeif the slapping stops.

I have an 08' Silverado Texas Edition and I haven't noticedto muchwind noise. But when I was looking and test driving, I drove a GMC and the salesman made a comment about how the engineers spent alot of time trying to reduce the wind noise. In that truck the wind noise was ridiculous! I haven't noticed mine being that bad but I guess all trucks are different. Good luck to you!

Was at the dealership tonight and learned something interesting. There is a TSB about noise at the windshield. Apparently it's only with aftermarket bug shields. The ones that Chevy sells are designed for the truck and apparently have no problems. Mine is a Lund and in the past what the dealers did is place a piece of silicone under the windshield to stop the windshield from flexing. The dealer wanted to have me remove the bug shield to see if the problem goes away.

As we were reading further it was my problem to a T and Chevy no longer does the bead but has some type of different rail or channel that gets replaced and the problem goes away. They are ordering them for my truck.

They also found a TSB about my interior noise complaint of all of the plastic moving. Turns out it's the doors squeaking against the molding. The solution is to place anti-squeak tape (yes that's what it's called) on the inside of the door and that problem will go away.

The truck goes back on Saturday for them to do some of the work. Finally maybe I can start to enjoy the truck instead of hating it so much. Time will tell.

Was wanting to get an update as to what exactly the dealer did to fix the wind noise and interior noise. I have the same problems with my '08. Would like some more specifics to take to my dealer and get these annoyances taken care of. Took it to the dealer before and they couldn't find the problem.

Just Try WeatherTech Wind Deflectors. Can be installed on side windows and roof. They Claim it reduces wind noise, but i haven't tried them yet. Can find them here www.weathertech.com
